Kahotea House B & B and homestay, Motuoapa Bay, LakeTaupo, Turangi. Kahotea House is situated on the slopes of Motuoapa overlooking LakeTaupo, magnificent views across the lake to the western shores of LakeTaupo. Motuoapa is in the centre of the southern lake district and access to all the activities the central plateau offers.

Situated just off State Highway 1 and close to the mountains of the central plateau. Tongariro, Ngaruhoe and Ruapehu are within 40 minutes away by car. During summer the ski fields of Ruapehu are closed for skiing from around November but the world famous Tongariro Crossing tramp is a free walk. (See our activities page.)

Our spacious guest focused accommodation, the Tongariro and Hinemaiaia rooms, offer perfect privacy, peace and quiet with 180 degree views of Lake Taupo. Included , we offer a choice of either a full english or continental breakfast. Delicious evening meals are available by prior arrangement.Seasonal vegetables are from our own garden and we use local free range eggs.

We recommend stays of 2 nights or more to experience all that the southern Lake Taupo area has to offer. (see our activities page).We are happy to recommend and book activities and to make reservations at local restaurants.

The Den is an exterior (with own entrance) open plan, studio style accommodation with self contained kitchen facilities for self catering , TV, (freeview) Wi-Fi. quality queen bed, en suite. Accommodates two. A BBQ is also available for your use, the DEN does not have views.

Fishing!

Motuoapa is 10 minutes from Turangi you can fish the famous Tongariro river, the fly fishing mecca of the world, with its beautiful rainbow and brown trout. Ten minutes in the other direction, the Tauranga-Taupo river and close by the pretty, bush clad Hinemaiaia river.

Kahotea House can arrange for first time and experienced fishers, a fly fishing guide who will also supply all the equipment you will need for the day including rods, waders, boots etc as well as a picnic lunch.

Kahotea House has so much to offer be it fishing the rivers or fishing the lake by charter boat. We can arrange your fishing trips for you.
